Best Beach Amusement Park on the East Coast Doesn't Disappoint

Park Experience
In contrast to most of the other parks I've visited, Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ offers a distinctive location. Literally on a South Jersey beach. The park consists of three piers each with a major roller coaster and also a myriad of carnival and amusement type rides and attractions. Aside from the 3 larger coasters there are an additional four that are more or less mini steel coasters more suited to kids and beginners.
Grade: C+

Theming and Atmosphere

While it is a relatively small park, Morey's Piers has the advantage of being adjacent to the beach as well as the boardwalk. Meaning, dining and shopping options are endless. Or if the ocean looks inviting from inside the park, you can just go down to the beach and enjoy. As far as theming the park doesn't really have any consistent theming. It has more of a carnival feel which works fine and is consistent to most beach amusement parks.

Sea Serpent
Type: Steel Looping Coaster
Year Built: 1984
Length: 875'
Height: 125'
Inversions: 3
Duration: 1:48
The Sea Serpent is
your average boomerang coaster. Found all over the country these cookie-cut-out coasters consist of a reverse-incline lift hill for propulsion. In other words once you board the train, it's dragged out of the back of the station by a chain lift. Once the train reaches the top, it's released, and falls down the lift hill back through the station and into the cobra roll inversion. Immediately after the cobra roll, a vertical loop, and then another lift hill. Again once the train reaches the top it's released and riders follow the course backwards. It's six inversion in less than two minutes but if you've ridden one you'll agree it's nothing to write home about.
Grade: D

Great Nor'Easter
Type: Steel Inverted Coaster
Year Built: 1995
Length: 2170'
Height: 115'
Drop: 95'
Inversions: 5
Speed: 55 mph
Duration: 2:05
This is a fraternal twin to the Mind Eraser at Six Flags America, and the Mind Eraser at Six Flags Darien Lake. Neither of which have a grade of a B as the Great Nor'Easter has. Why the higher grade? You ask. The atmosphere. The view from the lift hill of the ocean while you're 100+ feet above the beach is breath-taking. After the drop, the ride packs the same punch as it's sister coasters. High speed inversions, that aren't too rough, and lots of leg choppers.  You'll find yourself tucking your legs under the ski lift-style trains as the track is a tangled mess in several areas. Definitely not as smooth as a B&M inverted coaster like Alpengeist or Talon but still a great ride.
